DOUBLE-SKINNED FIRE BOX the fire box is double-skinned to deal with the rigours of solid fuel burning. This is a product built to last
SEVERAL COOKING HEIGHTS the fire box has 5 parallel grill-slots to adjust the grill height to the perfect cooking temperature. Cook with complete control
STAINLESS STEEL ROTISSERIE use the rotisserie for those authentic roasts, smoked and cooked to perfection
INTELLI-VENT WITH ASH COLLECTION the barbecue draws air from the log store up to the fuel source and then on to the chimney. This creates a very efficient flue-effect for easier ignition, and reduces instances of incomplete combustion. Dispose of waste ash effortlessly by removing the collector drawer
HIGH GRADE STAINLESS STEEL the rotisserie, ash collection drawer, and cooking grill are made from high grade 304 brushed stainless steel for style and longevity
WOOD STORE the wood store will keep a dry fuel source conveniently to hand
NATURAL SLATE SURFACE the natural slate surface isn't just beautiful, but extremely durable and easy to clean. Each barbecue is rendered in hand-selected slate to create a piece of real craft and uniqueness. Please be aware that because of the natural nature of slate, colour variations will occur
INSTALLATION each barbecue is delivered on a single (shrink-wrapped) pallet, and must be built by locking together approximately 10 sectional components. Predominantly the weight of the components hold the structure together, although most of the sections require fixing with fire cement or equivalent binding agent. Installation should be carried out by 2 people (minimum)
DIMENSIONS total height = 206cm; width of ground plinth = 96cm; mantel piece width (and total width) = 119cm; max barbecue depth from front to rear = 77cm; grill area = 58 x 40cm
CARE AND MAINTENANCE this barbecue is designed to endure all of Britain's seasonal weather, although we recommend covering it during the harshest winter months to keep it in a good, hygienic condition for summer usage
FUEL SUITABILITY the manufacturer stipulates the use of charcoal only, to discourage usage of the grill as a garden fire place. This is because the chimney section of the structure would accumulate too much heat if the flames from wood were to exceed the line of the heat proof fire box
AVAILABLE ACCESSORIES FOR THIS PRODUCT (1) weather cover (2) additional grill (3) solid grill tray (4) pizza oven (5) smokehouse kit. click here to view the range of accessories

Wow when this BBQ is built it looks fantastic and is a pleasure to use and makes a great centre piece and talking point for the garden. The pizzas were fantastic when we used the oven, though it did take a fair amount of coals and even then we did not think it had got the temp it should be. We have given it a covering of slate and tile sealer in order to try and protect from frost when the winter comes but will also be covered.
Equipment we used from Speedy Hire, thanks to those guys for all their advice and assistance. We had to disassemble and reassemble the equipment below several times to move the BBQ from delivery area to back garden.
Turntable Truck – 1 Tonne SWL
Gantry Beam Trolley – 2 Tonne SWL
Gantry Beam – 2 Tonne SWL
Chain Block Manual – 1t 3m
Gantry A Frame – 2 Tonne SWL
3 * 2m 1 Tonne SWL Slings
We used three people to assemble the BBQ with the equipment we hired, I doubt you could use less.
Some things to note
It is very heavy
Our BBQ came on a single pallet with the 3 major pieces stacked vertically on top of one another.
When it was delivered the driver required a flat level piece of ground as he only had a tail lift truck and a pallet trolley, which would not move on our stone chip drive.
Thankfully the neighbours were okay with us leaving it on part of their drive until it was built.
Don’t try and man handle it, the bottom and top sections are very heavy.
The instructions are a translation from another language and are less than clear in some places, though it is pretty straight forward to build.
Make sure you have a solid base prepared where you are going to assemble the BBQ, it is ¾ tonne when fully assembled.
There are no instructions on the correct use or care of the pizza and smoker units, though it is pretty straight forward.
Did I mention it is very heavy

A fab BBQ once complete but this thing is heavy! We hired a 2 ton crane lift from Speedy Hire and a pallet trolley. 4 men could not lift the top piece! We also hired 1mtr straps but would have been more practical to have a longer one as well as a 1mtr. We used fire proof cement and cut some wood dowels to separate each piece of the BBQ. We will cover it to protect from the frost as do not want slate to lift. A real talking piece and cooks brilliantly! Highly recommended!

Just finished building the barbecue and it looks great and I'm sure it will impress. The only thing you need to be aware of is the weight and size of some of the component parts. The base section and the chimney section both weigh over 500 Kg. The chimney section needs to lifted to over chest height for assembly. I used an engine lift from a garage which just managed. It took 3 men and heavy weight trolleys to move the parts from the delivery pallet to the back of the house. So you may need to consider hiring heavy lifting gear when buying one of these brilliant barbeques.

Right, I am writing a fair review of the product, because it is indeed very good. Looks impressive and my friends think the same. So, given that the review has to be about the product I am giving it good marks. BUT, the delivery was rubbish. It turned up on a pallet completely unannounced, and the guy on the lorry, who was more concerned about chewing gum than communicating sensibly, expected us to allow him to leave it on the road, because my driveway was blocked up with other building materials. So, at the resistance of the driver, we asked for it to be re-delivered the next day, in which time I had to remove the 4 tonnes of type 1 granite from the driveway. WHY oh WHY would you turn up ad hoc with any delivery like this - 700kg of masonry barbecue!!?? I just don't get it. If I had to mark on delivery it would be -1 !!!
RESPONSE FROM GARDENITEMS.CO.UK: thank you for your review, and we're pleased to learn that you like your Rondo barbecue. We're very sorry to hear about the poor performance of the pallet courier. The pallet courier system operates using a network of independent satellite branches that are run as independent companies. This means that the customer experience can vary dramatically from one area to another. In your case the company didn't feel it necessary to call you to arrange things before making the delivery, which is indeed completely ridiculous, but unfortunately it seems there is an unproductive culture within this particular satellite company.
There are no excuses for the courier not to have called you beforehand, and we apologise abjectly for the stress that this has caused you. We appreciate this would have been most unwelcome during a busy building project.
Thank you again for your feedback and, once again, our sincere apologies

My landscaper has just set up my Rondo, and it looks the business. The slate fascia is unique and of good quality. Not cheap, but sometimes it's good to invest in the best of something
