Rainbow Glass Spheres

These Rainbow Glass Spheres are made from natural glass, where an individual artist uses "free-blowing" techniques to form the molten glass, as opposed to the moulding techniques used by mass-produced glass products. The resulting spheres possess a distinctive iridescence and refinement that can only be achieved by a hand-made product. The rainbow glass sphere comes in 13, 22, 27 and 32cm diameter sizes, and the set options are listed below

FOR GROUND, POND AND TREE USE the spheres can be placed on ground, in water, or hung decoratively from tree branches. In winter they will endure extreme cold to act as ice breakers on fish ponds

INDIVIDUALLY MADE FROM FREE-BLOWN GLASS each piece is individually made using free-blowing techniques. The artist introduces air into natural molten glass to create inflation, using a clay blow-pipe. Once inflated, he/she twists, angles, swings and paddles the malleable glass into its final form

FOR ALL YEAR ROUND there is no requirement to bring the spheres inside during the year. They will endure the harshest of British winters

NOT FOR HARD GROUND each sphere has a glass nib integrated into it, so it can be anchored on the bottom of a pond or hung from a tree. This means it cannot be placed on solid ground unless this nib is somehow accommodated

MINIMAL MAINTENANCE simply wipe occasionally with a damp cloth to restore the lustre, or simply leave them to weather with your garden over time

A NOTE ON SIZE, SHAPE AND COLOUR as with all hand-made products, no two are exactly the same. Each sphere has its own intensity of iridescence (rainbow patterning) and variances in size and shape will occur
